A delightfully easy going city with no air pollution, traffic jams and parking headaches. The most lively period of the day would be from 8am to 6pm where most "trading" would be centered around the market place. Friday would be most quiet day of the week, due to the closure of most shops, banks and offices; as this is a rest day (like Sunday) for the local population.                                                                                              Like in most towns around the world, even here there is an area known as "Chinatown" or "Kampung Cina". Stroll down this street and you will find interesting chinese shops with heavy chinese characters and billboards, hawkers peddling around with push carts and even an outstanding chinese temple with its distinctive red colors. Many narrow alleys in between squeezes of old buildings would lead to riverside jetties. The smell and sound of "frying foods" is ever so noticeable if you happen to wander along this road.

The market place is one of the most captivating, busiest and most colorful market scenery. Here, fruits, vegtables and food are predominantly handled by women folks. Hordes of trishaws waiting to haul marketers and market produces or even crates full of fishes. Here, when we say "fresh" fish, we really mean it - the fishing boats docked just by the side of the market!!! For souvenirs, batiks, songkets, clothes, pots and pans, silver, brass and traditional wares and so on...... You can find everything imaginable on the upper floor of this market building. Browsing here may take perhaps from 2 hrs to ......well!!....infinity i suppose!!

Near the market place, there is a hill called Bukit Puteri. There is an interesting legend regarding this particular hill with some ancient cannons, relics and tales from the past. The panoramic view of the entire Terengganu river mouth can be viewed from here. There are many rest shelters and very breezy too.

There is an island in the middle of the Terengganu river known as Duyong Island. This is easily accessible by ferries from the market's place jetty point. Small and large boats and yatchs in traditional wood design are handcrafted by talented village folks; with admirable skills and age old techniques and tools mastered and brought down over the years.

The Terengganu museum is the most impressive and magnificent architecture, and the largest museum in Malaysia. The entire complex spreads over 27 hectares and it is so massive that you may ponder for a while where to begin. The main building features the "standard type" displays of most museums whereas the outdoor section highlights old traditional boats and vessels, old palaces and houses and many more historical displays that allows free roaming and exploration. This museum is located by the river and is near the 'Losong Market'
